Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice
Last updated: 28 October 2026
Spicy Planet (spicyplanet.net) is run by Gabriel Dancause Production, 2186 route du Fleuve, Les Éboulements, Québec, Canada ("Spicy Planet", "we", "us"). Our guides are written by Ali Imperiale. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: hello@spicyplanet.net.
1. Who this site is for
The site and the guides are for adults, 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
2. What we collect and why
| When | What we collect | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| You enter your email to be told when a guide or the 2026 book goes on sale, or to join the news list | Your email address, which list you chose, the date and time, and your country (worked out from your connection) | To send you the email you asked for | Your consent |
| You send a message through Work With Us | Your name, email address, the topic, your message, the date and time, and your country | To read and answer your message | Our legitimate interest in answering you |
| You buy a guide (when sales are open) | Your email, name and billing details given at checkout, what you bought, the payment status | To take payment, deliver the PDF and keep records | Contract and legal obligation |
| You visit the site | Technical data such as IP address, browser, pages requested and time, held in our host's server logs | To deliver the site, keep it secure and stop abuse | Legitimate interest |
| You confirm you are 18+ | A small cookie and a browser-storage entry that remember your answer | So we don't ask you every visit | Strictly necessary |
We do not ask for or store payment card numbers. Payments are handled by Stripe, which sends us the purchase result and the details above.
We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell personal information, and we do not use your information for automated decisions about you.
3. Who we share it with
We use a few service providers who handle data for us:
- Cloudflare: hosts the site and stores our files, including the signup list and messages. Data may be processed in the US and other countries.
- Stripe: processes payments once sales are open.
- Email: we do not use a third-party email service yet. Messages and signups are stored with Cloudflare until we do, and this page will be updated before that changes.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. Links to other sites (such as Instagram, @spicyplanet_) are covered by their own policies.
4. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it
- Newsletter and launch-list emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We will remove inactive addresses after 24 months.
- Work With Us messages: 24 months after the last message.
- Purchase records: 7 years or as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Server logs: 30 days or less.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR, Québec under Law 25, or California), you may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, take a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from any email with the link in it. To use a right, write to hello@spicyplanet.net. We will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Security
We keep our files in access-controlled storage, take payments through Stripe, and limit who can open the data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies and similar technologies (cookie notice)
A cookie is a small file a site saves in your browser. We keep this to the minimum.
| Name | What it is | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
sp-18 (cookie) and sp-18 (browser local storage) |
Remembers that you confirmed you are 18+ | 1 year | Strictly necessary |
- Analytics and advertising: we do not use analytics or advertising cookies today. If we add them, we will ask for your consent first and update this section.
- Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout page, which belongs to Stripe. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Browser storage: the age confirmation is also stored in your browser's local storage on this site.
- Controlling cookies: you can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you remove the age-confirmation entry we will simply ask again.
- Because the only cookie is strictly necessary, we do not show a cookie consent banner.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant we will say so on the site.
